Summer Tea Party

A few weeks ago, Fern asked to have a real tea party with her girlfriends. One request is the only spark that I need to go ALL IN. I love kids, I love parties, and I love having fun celebrations with my children. A girls tea part just for fun? RIGHT UP MY ALLEY. I don't need a special occasion to make a special occasion.

We had a blast! We hit up the dollar store for decorations and prizes, and we made dainty sandwiches and treats. It was perfect! They jumped right in to the girly games-barbies and dolls. Fern made sure everyone had a Barbie to play with.

I talked to Fern about being a good hostess, which is something I would like to develop better in each of my children. She did pretty great as she generated conversations like "how old is everyone?" and "what's your favorite princess?" and showing people where the bathroom was.

I hope she was welcoming and not too bossy. One thing was for sure, she thoroughly enjoyed it! She came alive and was fully out of her shell. I love when she gets that way because I know that she feels happy and safe.

Ridge was the only boy allowed at the party and he was a happy observer-enjoying all the action and snacks that came his way.

I hope this is the first of many not-special but very special occasions that we have in our home for our children. Parties on the reg!

One Year Old Legos

With older siblings, Ridge has plenty of access to Legos. He knows how to open the cabinet and dump the box over on the floor-which is half the fun!

He has his favorites and can find them in the pile. It's adorable to watch him work on them, because his focus is intense and quiet.

Despite the few mouth sweeps for small pieces, this is a perfect activity for him and John is convinced that it's connecting extra wires in his developing mind.
