I broke a rule of mine recently when I switched around Fern's room. I placed the bed in front of the window (and even on top of a vent). I've always had a love for windows, and I just don't want to block them. However, it was the only other long wall that would work (besides its original home). When I moved it there, it opened the room up for a bigger space to play. I'm fighting the urge to use the phrase "stage to play" but it sounds about right. We love going in there, sitting on the floor, and letting Fern direct the play. Even though we don't make it in there as often as we like, we always think it's one of the most fun rooms in the house.
Hand-me-down chair from neighbors that moved across the country. It's served us so well. A cute pallet bookshelf that I decided to hang out of any toddler's reach (what was I thinking?)
A perfect kitchen with rain boots and umbrella stored in the corner, per Fern's request.
A fabulous painting done by a dear friend.
The smudge marks on the mirror from when Fern was a baby and her changing pad was below it. The smudges annoy me and make me swoon. An octopus made by Fern in the cutest colors!
The toy corner where toys are traded out with ones stored upstairs.
Her junk tray which usually stores little notebooks, pencils, and little tiny treasures.
Fern loves her little room. If we ask her if we can go play in her room with her, her whole demeanor changes. "Oh sure!" She prances off to her room as we follow and she becomes the cutest little hostess.
