Phone Drop Update

Hello! Here is an update of my life via pictures from my phone-mainly cute things that my children are doing. The picture above is a picture of iced coffee and some flowers I cut from a field. I was treating myself because I got a new job with my favorite boss of all time doing something that is very close to a dream come true. More to come on that...

Burl and Fern are the sweetest of playmates.

I adore their rowdy tricks and funny antics. Pull the cushions off the sofa, pile the pillows, make a mess...these two get very creative during the days.

She walked in with this outfit and told me she has to go to the beach and to work.
Toddler talk paired with toddler style is edible.

While we frequently get twin yolks from my dad's chickens, one of those babes produced the biggest egg I've ever seen. Bless her heart.

First nails done in color. I never paint my nails, but I felt this huge bong and draw to have both our nails painted pink. Fern's girliness is rubbing off on me.

About 92% of the time, Burl is in warrior mode.

Our newest 4-week old friend had his first pool visit. Fern was so excited to have him join us. She was extra attentive when he was awake and moving.

I made tostadas for the first time and an avocado/kidney bean salad. The kids raved about this meal. Burl asked if we could have it again the next night.

Obviously, there's not much excitement going on here.
I'm just raising babies, making food, and enjoying the slow pace.

{Insta}Friday

It's that time again for an InstaFriday where I post a few pictures from my Instagram and add a sentence or two of explanation-because one social media outlet is not nearly enough:

Every since I was a young girl who loved to babysit, I've been a big fan of airplane. For all of Winter, I've been working on The Double Airplane. I've stayed inside by the couches for all of our crash landings, but during a little yard time, I tried it outside. Nailed it! And look at those precious smiles.

Stop the world: dogwood branches do GREAT inside. I pulled some down recently to use for our egg hunt, and someone let me in on the secret: they do great in water. I put on them on my mantel and took a picture of the cutest, cleanest square area of my house. Notice the floor is not in the picture. Don't have a dogwood tree? No problem, pull a Meg and steal from your nice neighbors.

Best night ever. My brother Daniel works at a new restaurant called Beast and Barrel, where they specialize in meat. We got four invitations to the soft opening, where our food was free. Since Joseph went vegetarian and John was willing to stay home with the kids, Lauren, my parents and I went. We were there for three hours, laughed incredibly loud, made new friends, and ate five different animals (cow, duck, quail, buffalo, pig). Lauren fits in perfectly with our family-especially since Lauren, Windy (her mom), my mom, and I were together so much we were our own family unit. Oh, and the food was out of this world!

After Easter lunch, I asked Daniel to take a family picture of us in our fancy clothes. He took about 24 pictures and the outtakes were just as good as the good ones. Brothers make the best out of anything.

Camping picture. I've made this my phone background. We've found the perfect campsite that is close to the bathrooms but tucked into the woods. It gives me full body shivers when I look at it, because this is the perfect example of my happy place, my very happy place.

This was taken on the streets of downtown after 11:00 pm after we just finished a Nickel Creek concert. Chris Thile, the number one mandolin player in the world, is back with his original band. They put on an incredible show and it almost made me wish that I was a musician. We ran into so many friends and had a great crowd of friendly faces as we were blown away by their talent.

My Ferndays when Burl is at school are always an adventure. She's up for anything as long as I'm with her. She loves the attention and I love giving it to her. I'm also teaching her the fine art of Treat.Yo.Self (click that link). White Mocha extra hot, half the mocha, no foam, no whip for me, because I'm easy-breezy, and apple juice and goldfish for her.

I've already posted this, but, come one now, it's worth repeating.

I made a decision on some new curtains. I had to text Lauren, my mom, my decorator aunt and post to Instagram for advice that these curtains looked good. Full story to come later...

I love cilantro. And fish tacos. And mexican street corn. And eating outside. And cute iPhone pictures.

Happy Friday, people! I've got some high and low adventures planned for the next couple of days. I hope the same goes for you!

Insta{Friday}

Here is a phone dump of all my Instagram pictures from the past couple of weeks. Warmer weather is on the prowl, and we are all ready for some spring time adventures!

Our caving adventure, post coming next week.

Fern just loves to sit and write. She has her notebooks and pencils, and she loves some company during her writing sessions.

John's the household hero. He makes homemade biscuits, calls Fern "Miss Ferny," and fights with Burl almost every night. We all breathe easy when he's home with us.

On a recent trip to Home Depot, Burl tested out the mallets against their concrete floor. Then, he grabbed two and went at it, Thor style.

To the tippy top times five.

I watched the Oscars with Jenny, which is like our anniversary. My neighbor made me go with her to her hairdresser's house for an Oscar party. A few dinners and Bible studies together later, and Jenny and I became fast friends and I'm so excited she's moved one street over.

Our counter becomes a table we there are just three of us.

All Burl asked for was another teddy bear just like the one he has and loves. Pops gave that to him and he was overjoyed. He still favors his original teddy, but we've got a whole gang of teddies. We won't let him have a "real teddy that walks and wrestles with him and sleeps in his bottom bunk," so this is the next best thing.

Our family of four had an absolute blast together on Burl's birthday. It was a fun day!

{Insta}Friday

TGIF, people! Want to see a bunch of pictures off of my cell phone? I knew it.
Here are some of my Instagram pictures and more from the past week:

Sometimes Fern likes to take pictures with my phone. 1 normal person picture=43 toddler pictures. Pushing a button is most exciting for those little people. I love the off-centered-ness of it.

I've been rearranging furniture since the early 90s. Fern's room got a little switch and she's absolutely in love with the new setup. She tries to get everyone to come to her room. Like mother, like daughter.

Burl at 3 months. When I see this picture, I laugh. Then, my arms and back start hurting just remembering how heavy this boy was. I just can't stare at this long enough.

One thing is for sure: this girl loves a trip to a coffee shop.

This is what I dreamned about on whole30. Bean and rice bowl with all the trimmings. It was everything I hoped it would be. I could eat that for breakfast!

Early morning selfie, because haircuts happen and I love when my hair gets did.

With Burl at school, Fern took her first ride on the cart instead of in the cart. She was excited.

Did you hear that there was a football game at the Bruno Mars concert? That split reminded my little brother, Daniel, that at one time he could do that too. Naturally, I made him prove it while I video-taped it. He nailed it.

This boy. Always moving. Always.

Someone might say that I've become a little obsessed with the Waterlogue app. However, John pointed out that sometimes it's a little too distorted. Can you find the ones that made us laugh at ourselves?

My little people go to playgrounds and make friends and form teams and have meetings in a clubhouse. Fern doesn't know what to do but to yell, "I like pink everybody!"

Warrior fighter man.

I got this picture sent to me from a friend. There is a women's retreat at our church this weekend and I couldn't be more excited!

I hope that you and yours have a great next few days and you stay warmer than you ever have in these cold winter months.

Instafriday: Beach Edition

Here's a little phone dump from my trip at the beach. The kids and I went to Rosemary beach (swoon) for five days. We stayed with Lauren and her family, which I was grateful for because our kids get along so well and just have the best time together.

My kids love the beach. They love the water, the waves, the tiny clam-things, the people, and the sand. The sand and the water prove to be their favorites, because they stay so busy with it all.

I'll do a full post about the trip later, but here is a little preview into the good time that we had. If you're reading this in a reader, click over to my website for a couple of videos...if you're interested.
