Our Summer Home

Summer is when my home makes the most sense.  With loads of natural light, cool beach colors, and airy feeling, our house screams summer.  It's our place of calm, just like the feeling of summer.  Simple. Mildly exciting. A whole lot more daytime to live.  That's what I like in summer, and that's what I want in my home too.

I don't decorate for summer.  Instead, I strip it down bare, and let it calm down for a bit.
Everything tends to slow down at home.

Today I took less than an hour and picked up everything.  Not most things, but everything.  Every little random object was put in its place.  If it didn't have a home, then a home it was given.  A proper home in something, not just on something.

My house doesn't look this picked up everyday, and I'm ok with that.  Even though there was a time that this was the standard, now I need a little mess to remind me to chill out and embrace the life that's happening here.  For today, my house got a reset button.

The Little People village goes on the floor, where it can be reached properly.  I love this.

It feels nice to take the extra effort of eliminating those dreadful piles and items that try and creep out into eyesight and look normal.  To the puzzle pieces, magnet letters, my random lists, my pile of books, that hair clip, etc: your time came today to go back home.  You call have a home.

There is a summer tour of homes at The Shabby Creek Cottage where there are fully decorated homes being shared.  Today, this is my home where we all relax that we've made it to another summer.

Now that summer is here, all we want is sunlight/long days/easy living/fresh produce.
It's our reset button.
