I've finally got them. Hydrangeas are lining the front of my house-and with full out blooms.
It was not even a year ago that I planted these bushes, a few months since I saw them bud after winter, and now they are flowering like crazy. I had no idea that they would provide this many blooms-and so early on in their little lives. Go plants, go.
They are limelight hydrangeas and they are great. I've always wanted hydrangeas at my house. Ever since I was young, I have noticed old homes with big, established hydrangea bushes against the house. For the 5 years that we've lived here, I've thought about planting some.
It took a friend of mine who owns a landscaping business to make that dream a reality. She bought me four plants, then I bought two more. And here I am, not a year later, already adding little white bouquets in every room of my house.
Short vases.
Tall vases.
Simple displays.
Massive displays.
They are wonderful.
I'm even letting them float in a shallow dish of water.

I've seen that idea before, the floating bloom. I used to think to myself, "who has money to waste on cutting a flower off just to float in water?" Well, I don't have money to wast, but I have several blooms to use in many different ways. And I'm enjoying the heck out of them.
