Sometimes Mama needs a little pick-me-up when it comes to housework. When it comes to cleaning, I'm more of the organize-get-rid-of-piles-find-homes-for-things. Not so much of the get-out-the-sponge-and-bucket-and-start-scrubbing type of cleaning.

I found all these great pictures from Country Living. It's titled The Carefully Cultivated Home. I love looking at decorating magazines. I used to ooze over the perfect homes, then look at mine and think, "oh, mine will never be that way."

Close the magazine.
Realize that my home is far from magazine worthy.
Become paralyzed after "enjoying" a good read.

That took all the fun away. It became guilt. I had to stop that.

So now, I am trying to really enjoy the beautiful homes {that I know are staged perfectly for the pictures}. I am trying hard to see them, then walk away ready to do what little bits I can to make my house more of what I want.

What I want is a cleaner, more comfortable home. I want a home that is clean enough to enjoy, but not so clean that someone feels worried they might make a mess. I want a home that is fun and whimsical, but not perfectly decorated.

Comfort and cleanliness is the name of my game.

Come back tomorrow for tips. I'm not giving any cleaning tips. I'm asking for them. Some very specific ones.

I totally understand what you mean by never feeling like your house will be "magazine" worthy. But then again, VERY few homes are. Love these pictures and this post :)
